  3.   This directory contains a little program to give out random phrases to 
  4. advise inform and annoy you.  The program is a simple implementation of 
  5. the UNIX "fortune" program, at the moment the text file that it runs from 
  6. has too few sayings to keep the user interested for very long.

  8.   The code is simple enough that for me not to put much extra 
  9. documentation in here, read the code to see how the program works.

  11.   The simplest improvement would be to extending the data file, if you 
  12. want to play with the program you could try compressing the data file in 
  13. some way, or sending the output to the "Narrator" device so that the 
  14. machine says the advice as well as printing it.
  15.  
  16.   If you do improve the program I would be pleased to get an updated 
  17. copy.  As normal if you send me code tell me if I can put it on the next 
  18. NorthC release disk.
